Infrared Sauna Update

We would like to clarify the situation with our infrared sauna, after receiving new information.
Although we had tried to contact Alberta Biz Connect for specific details, we hadn’t received an answer and felt with the announcement of reopening we had to make a decision that felt right for us.
Following our newsletter announcement last night, we had a client point us to information that showed saunas (both wet & dry) fell under the Stage 3 relaunch. We are glad to see that the sauna has been mentioned and hope that when Stage 3 is announced, we will also be provided guidance on how to safely open our infrared sauna.
We apologize for not having all the information at the time of our sauna update. Although it does not change what is happening, we felt it was important to continue to share with you the most accurate information that we have.
We will provide another update after Stage 3 is announced and we have seen specific guidance.

Infrared Sauna Update

As we get ready to open 3 Leaf for our massage therapy-based services, we have made the difficult decision to delay opening our infrared sauna. We have not come to this decision lightly as we know that this is an important service for so many of our clients, and something you are looking forward to getting back to.
However, unlike massage we do not have clear guidance on how we can safely operate the infrared sauna, with the continued risks of COVID-19. We know that we can look at some of the general guidance, but there are specific concerns with the sauna that we can’t overlook.
We operate our facility with cleanliness as one of our top priorities. We have always used hospital grade cleaners to clean and disinfect our space. However, with the sauna, we have had to be cautious of what we introduce into it when cleaning. We have always used a more natural cleaning solution, (that we have had approved through AHS) and limited contact areas with towels. With the current requirements we must use specific COVID-19 approved cleaners/disinfectants. Cleaners/disinfectants that are not recommended to use on the untreated wood of the sauna. We also know that the sauna is an enclosed space, that clients sit in for extended periods of time and breathing in these chemicals would not be recommended.
We know that this isn’t what you want to hear. But we truly do take your health and safety very seriously and until we find a product we can safely use or have some guidance specific to this type of service we cannot in good conscience offer this service.
We know that many of you have packages, and we will absolutely be extending any expiry dates that have been impacted because of our closure of the sauna. We are not currently able to offer refunds. However, if there is a specific concern, please contact us so we can discuss it.
We would like to extend an additional infrared sauna session onto every Groupon package that has been impacted. This does not include previously used or expired packages, but those packages that would have expired after March 1, 2020. As well, we will add 1 additional session onto each in-house package that is currently active (this is the 5 & 10 session sauna packages). We will automatically update all packages, but if you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask.
We care about how this impacts you. And wish more than anything we could get back to business as normal. But there are not normal times, and we appreciate your understanding as we navigate this as best we can.
