RED LIGHT THERAPY

Restore. Recover. Rebalance.

Support your wellness naturally with full-body red and near-infrared light therapy. Whether you’re looking to promote recovery after physical activity, ease everyday muscle and joint discomfort, support healthy-looking skin, or simply take time to relax, red light therapy is a gentle, non-invasive addition to your wellness routine.

What Is Red Light Therapy?

Red light therapy uses specific wavelengths of red and near-infrared light to support healthy cellular function.

When these wavelengths reach your cells, they interact with the mitochondria—the “powerhouses” of your cells. This process helps support ATP (adenosine triphosphate) production, the primary energy source cells use to power normal biological processes. Increased cellular energy may help support your body’s natural repair and recovery processes and overall cellular function.

Different wavelengths penetrate to different depths in the body. Red light primarily reaches the skin and superficial tissues, while near-infrared light can penetrate deeper, allowing red light therapy to support a variety of wellness goals.

Why People Use Red Light Therapy

Red light therapy is used by people looking to support how they feel, move, and recover in their daily lives.

It is commonly used to help support:

  • Recovery after exercise or physical activity

  • Muscle soreness and stiffness

  • Joint comfort and mobility

  • Everyday physical tension and stress in the body

  • Healthy-looking skin

  • Collagen production

  • The appearance of fine lines and wrinkles

  • Relaxation and overall well-being

As research continues to evolve, red light therapy remains a popular wellness option for both active lifestyles and everyday self-care.

Individual results vary, and red light therapy is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.

What to Expect

During your session, you’ll lie comfortably on a massage table while a red light therapy panel is positioned above you.

Sessions are typically up to 20 minutes total, depending on your needs and the area being treated. There is no downtime afterward, so you can return to your day as usual.

Most clients describe the experience as warm, calming, and relaxing. You simply lie back and allow the light to work while you rest.

Your Personalized Session

Our red light therapy panel features several preset programs that allow the session to be tailored to your wellness goals.

These include settings that support:

  • Relaxation and general wellness

  • Skin health and appearance

  • Sleep and recovery support

  • Muscle recovery after activity

  • Joint comfort and mobility

Each preset adjusts the light program to match the focus of your visit.

Before your session begins, our staff will select the setting that best aligns with your wellness goals for that day.

Before Your Visit

Preparing for your red light therapy session is simple. A few small steps can help you get the most from your treatment:

  • Wear comfortable clothing that allows easy access to the area being treated.

  • For best light exposure, avoid applying heavy lotions, oils, sunscreen, or makeup to the treatment area before your appointment, if possible.

  • Remove jewellery or other metal accessories from the treatment area.

  • Drink plenty of water before and after your session to support your overall wellness.

Before your first session, you’ll be asked to complete an informed consent form that includes important safety questions to help determine whether red light therapy is right for you.

Red light therapy is generally well tolerated. Please see our Safety Information for full details before booking.

Important Safety Information & Contraindications

Red light therapy is generally considered safe and well tolerated when used as directed. However, it may not be suitable for everyone.

RED LIGHT THERAPY
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHAT IS A SESSION LIKE?

Your session takes place in a private treatment room with a comfortable massage table and a full-body red light therapy panel positioned above you.

Our staff will review your treatment, select the appropriate program based on your wellness goals, position the panel, and answer any questions before stepping out of the room to provide you with privacy.

You may then undress to your own level of comfort, lie on the massage table, put on the protective eyewear provided, and press the start button to begin your session.

Depending on your wellness goals, your session may include turning over partway through treatment to allow both the front and back of your body to receive light exposure. If this is part of your treatment, the panel will beep halfway through to let you know it’s time to turn over. When your session is complete, the panel will automatically turn off.

You can remove your protective eyewear, take your time getting up, get dressed, and simply open the door when you’re ready.

Many clients find the experience warm, quiet, and deeply relaxing.

HOW LONG IS A SESSION?

For full-body use, sessions are typically 10 minutes per side (20 minutes total). Most appointments are kept within this timeframe to allow for a comfortable and effective session.

Sessions may be shorter if only one side of the body is being treated, or for specific presets.

Our staff will guide you based on your wellness goals.

WHAT SETTINGS ARE USED DURING A SESSION?

Our red light therapy panel features several preset programs that allow the session to be tailored to your wellness goals.

These include settings that support:

  • Relaxation and general wellness

  • Skin health and appearance

  • Sleep and recovery support

  • Muscle recovery after activity

  • Joint comfort and mobility

Each preset adjusts the light program to match the focus of your session.

Our staff will select the most appropriate setting with you before your treatment begins.

WHAT DOES RED LIGHT THERAPY FEEL LIKE?

Most people describe the experience as gentle warmth and relaxation. The treatment is quiet, non-invasive, and easy to unwind through.

IS RED LIGHT THERAPY SAFE?

Red light therapy is generally considered safe and well tolerated when used as directed. It does not use UV light and will not tan or damage the skin.

If you are unsure if its safe for you, we recommend speaking with your healthcare provider before starting treatment.

ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS?

Red light therapy is generally well tolerated when used as directed. Some individuals may experience mild warmth, redness, or temporary fatigue after use. If discomfort occurs, reduce frequency or irradiance/intensity (ask to have distance from the panel increased) or discontinue use.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

Red light therapy works best when more skin is exposed to the light, but what you choose to wear during your session is entirely up to you.

Once your treatment has been prepared, our staff will leave the room, giving you complete privacy throughout your session. You may then undress to your own level of comfort before getting onto the treatment table. For some clients, this may mean remaining fully clothed, while others may choose to undress to their underwear or less to allow for greater skin exposure.

If you prefer to remain clothed, we recommend wearing lightweight, loose-fitting clothing made from breathable fabrics, as thicker materials may reduce the amount of light that reaches the skin.

For optimal light exposure, we also recommend avoiding heavy lotions, oils, sunscreen, or makeup on the areas you wish to expose before your appointment.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I COME?

Frequency depends on your wellness goals. Some people begin with more regular sessions and then move into a maintenance routine over time. Consistency is often used to support the best overall experience.

General guidance is 3- 5 sessions per week, with a gradual increase based on tolerance.

Maintenance of 1- 2 sessions per week, or as needed.

SHOULD I START SLOWLY?

Yes. It is generally recommended to begin with a more conservative schedule and adjust based on personal tolerance and response.

Except for the skin care preset- our sessions are based on 20 minute full body sessions. If you are unsure how you will tolerate Red Light Therapy and would like to start with a shorter session please let our staff know prior to your session and we can reduce the duration.

WHAT CAN RED LIGHT THERAPY HELP SUPPORT?

Red light therapy is commonly used to support:

  • Muscle recovery after activity

  • Temporary muscle soreness and stiffness

  • Joint comfort and mobility

  • Recovery from physical strain or daily activity

  • Overall relaxation and well-being

  • Healthy-looking skin and collagen production

WHEN WILL I NOTICE RESULTS?

Some people notice changes after a few sessions, while others experience more gradual changes over time. Results vary depending on the individual and consistency of use.

WHAT IF I CAN'T LAY DOWN

If you are unable to lay down on a massage table we are able to offer a seated or standing session.

As this will require the panel to be set up in a different room with a modified set up, we do require any standing/seated sessions to be booked over the phone.

CAN I COMBINE RED LIGHT THERAPY WITH OTHER TREATMENTS?

Yes. Red light therapy can be enjoyed on its own or as part of a broader wellness routine and is often combined with services such as massage or acupuncture.

If your appointment includes a massage, your red light therapy session will typically take place before your massage. This allows the light to reach the skin before massage oils or lotions are applied, helping to ensure optimal light exposure during your session.

Many clients find that combining red light therapy with other wellness services is a convenient way to support recovery, relaxation, and overall well-being during a single visit.
